Worship through worry

“He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him.” Psalm 40:3

Singing is probably the last thing you want to think about doing when walking through a hard time…but it just may be the solution to your breakthrough.

The Bible tells many stories of battles fought between God’s people and enemy armies. It’s interesting to learn that it was common for God’s army to send forth worshippers first, to show that God was fighting on their behalf.

Worship is a weapon of warfare when it comes to fighting our spiritual battles. It is an act of surrender, and it tells God that despite our circumstances, we believe that He is good and still in control.

As humans made in the image of God, we’ve been given the incredible ability to open our mouths and speak: “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” (Proverbs 18:21) Being made in the image of the Creator, we too have the power to create the lives we want to live through the words we speak into existence.

Next time you’re feeling overcome with anxiety, fear or doubt, choose to speak life over yourself by “singing to the Lord a new song.” (Psalm 96:1) You’ll be surprised to find yourself walking in victory…for the enemy doesn’t have a chance when he knows who fights on your behalf.

  1. LOVE This! And I practice this daily. I bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the Lord, and we offer unto you the sacrifices of thanksgiving. This is a chorus I sing! It definitely is a weapon of warfare! Love you!
